For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. –1 Timothy 6:10
Note: Contrary to most people’s belief, this verse does NOT say, “… the love of money is the root of ALL evil.” I most definitely is NOT.
However, it IS the root of many kinds of evil. That is a big difference and it makes all the difference in the true meaning of the verse.
Essentially, this allows for the accumulation of vast stores of wealth (think King Solomon, the richest person ever), without venturing down the path of evil, for wealth is NOT the source of ALL evil. This is good news for the wealthy, but they are tasked with the burden of having to be extra careful that their wealth does not lead them to evil, even unintentionally.
Keep in mind, this is only my opinion as a self-imposed student of the Bible for over 50 years.
